The Person Who Raised Me
The person who raised me would have to be, Cindy Bierle, my mother.
My mother was the one I was always and still am afraid to disappoint. This pushes me to always work harder. I wanted her to be proud of me so I excelled in high school and participated in all activities I could. I still push myself in college by participating in organizations and getting recognized for my work in internships every year. I want to have all the tools to get a job she will approve of, and that I will like of course.
I believe my mother had that intuition that all mother’s have when one of there children is hurting or in need. She knew when I needed a “sick” day and knew when I needed to be pushed. More importantly she knew when I had had enough and when I could give more. She was not a very easy person to talk to but could drag my problems out of me. My mom knew things about me but was slow to open up. I learned to begin to read people.
My mother taught me to take problems as they come to me and not run from them. I will never forget the long nights she sat with me to get my homework finished or that she learned my pre-calc problems so that she could then teach me. She never gave up on me, or my brother. She taught me to teach others through this method because while I had problems with math, I excelled at reading, but my brother was the opposite. I became his tutor at home.
My mother held my family together and taught me that you have to put your brother before yourself sometimes. She is a people pleaser and therefore I am not a people pleaser. I like to keep people happy instead of having fights. This lesson worked so well on me that whenever I have to take personality quizzes for class I get categorized in harmonizer.
My mom stuck up for me. In middle school I was teased by “the popular” girls and one day I refused to go to school. Instead of letting me hide my mom took me to school and talked to the teachers and instantly the girls backed off. My mom was my hero that day and showed that sticking up to them instead of hiding got things accomplished, and got me back to school.

Parentals
Parents. Can't live without them, wouldn't be hear without them.
I can't stand mine most of the time. They just don't get the growing up procedure.
Why do parents always play the victim? As if since they gave us life we owe them everything.
And now my mother says that she holds all these emotions from me? Ya right! Everything comes out in the end. Its ridiculous! Sorry I'm a person with feelings and now that I have grown up I have an apartment, thats right I don't have to stay and take your shit anymore. So good luck with those feelings you want to throw at me.

Something Missing
Sometimes I miss prom
I miss dressing up
I miss getting butterflies
I miss the makeup
I miss the scary high-heeled walk down the stairs
I miss the look in my dad's eyes
I miss the look in my date's eyes
I miss the corny pictures
I miss the fake smiles
I miss the ride to the high school
I miss the feeling of my dress is better than hers
I miss You

Thanksgiving Break
How To: Have An Awesome Thanksgiving Break
Its easy to get in a couch-potato slump when leaving college and going home for break but there are very few chances to get away from Iowa City and you have to use them all. So here are some tips to making your Thanksgiving Break awesome!
1. Sleep! – Everyone knows that at college we have deadlines and cram sessions just about every day. To make room for all that studying something has to give – our sleep. So while at home be sure to have some quality time in bed and rest up for finals week.
2. Call up old friends – Sure technology makes it easy to keep in touch with people from back home and friends going to different schools, but nothing is better than face-to-face interaction.
3. Eat – Holidays is one of the only acceptable times to completely stuff your face and then take a nice long nap after so load up on the turkey and stuffing and worry about getting back in shape at the Rec Center when you get back to school.
4. Family Time – Whether its going shopping with mom or curling up on the couch to watch football with dad, spend some time with the family. Being away from home really takes a toll on your parents and when you get home they want to see you so make some memories.
Thanksgiving break is what you have been waiting for since the start of school, its your first week long getaway of the school year and you need to make every moment count!

Experience
To get a job today, we need experience.
To get good work that gives you experience, you need to have previous experience!
When does this cycle end? Never
I am so excited about an internship I have gotten and how did I get it? From previous experience!
I once read that what we are doing when procrastinating is what we should do in life. I am currently taking this advice and running with it because I believe in it extremely.
So my advice to anyone and everyone, get experience, start low (start anywhere) and get some work experience because no one is going to trust or want you if you have never gotten your hands dirty, never cried from a deadline, and never thrown your hat in the ring to get something and failed because all of this makes you stronger and if you give up you will never get where you should be going.
